The World’s Longest Commutes

 https://www.parkhound.com.au/blog/the-worlds-longest-commutes

Of course if most people had a choice, they would like to have their commuting time to be less than an hour.

A lot of people would be happy if their commute was under 30 minutes.

If some people are within 15 minutes from getting to school & work or recreation & entertainment facilities, they might have the best of both worlds. That is to have access to all the big city things, but without having to travel from one end of the city to the other.

However, it's just not that feasible yet for most people to be within 15 minutes of where they need to go.

The 15-minute city

The 15-minute_city is an interesting concept. Even if most urban destinations are within 20 to 30 minutes, that's still pretty good.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15-minute_city#Larson_and_the_20-minute_city It could provide a lot of convenience, but it might also be used to train people to restrict their movements.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15-minute_city#Implications Could a total AI run city lead into a totalitarian nightmare? Perhaps if people had to keep asking for permission to go to certain places or even just to leave their home.

Unfortunately, in a world that becomes totally obsessed with extreme carbon credit management, you might eventually have to ask for permission to eat or use the toilet.

Megacities on the Move - Plannedopolis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSvb_ZTYS6A This is still one of the most condescending and irritating videos that tries to encourage people to accept a fascist or totalitarian future.

The environment and overpopulation will continue to be used as reasons to reshape or reset the world.
