Of course most people wouldn't want to be denied access to their bank accounts or prevented from going into a grocery store and shopping in general. That's why it's gradually being done so that people don't realize what's going on.
Of course several Sci-Fi stories depict various scenarios and examples of totalitarian systems. You still might be able to buy such books for a while. However, if you are blocked from a bookstore, that becomes difficult. Well then just download a digital copy, hopefully it's an uncensored version. Then at a certain point many more downloads could be banned and ultimately, people can be shut out of their digital bank accounts.
This isn't the kind of a world most people want, but it's the unkind world that the control freaks want. Ignorance isn't BLI$$ when you are given the $HIT end of the stick.
