Rod_Serling figured out ways to get around the corporate_censorship of the day. Thus, Sci-Fi & fantasy stories fit the bill.
Of course writers like Jules_Verne and H.G._Wells really knew how to create Sci-Fi storytelling. Rod_Serling's_The_Twilight_Zone became a fine modern example.
