City on Fire (1979 film)

City_on_Fire is about an out of control oil refinery conflagration that's not necessarily set in the Greater Houston Area or in L.A. County. It's set in a generic North American metropolis.

While most of LA isn't on fire, some key parts of the county are.

LA and Los_Angeles_County is a much larger area than Greater Houston. Some parts of Los_Angeles_County still have a wilderness feel and some parts still have heavily wooded sections or even forest_areas.

Los Angeles disaster preparedness?

 https://lafd.org/disaster-preparedness

The Greater L.A. Area really should already have had a series of above and underground water tanks and reservoirs, just in case another big fire broke out.

Smart LA 2028: Technology for a better Los Angeles?

 https://www.itskrs.its.dot.gov/node/212391

All this surveillance and coordination technology can help any city to be more efficient.

However, if ever totally run by AI and not humans, a totalitarian situation could emerge producing inhumane results.

https://www.geoweeknews.com/news/la28-2028-olympics-autodesk-technology-bim-retrofitting

https://dot.la/smart-la-2028-2659008086.html No matter how much high-technology can be applied, if there aren't enough emergency water tanks to fight fires, its pointless!

Technology is a series of tools, but such tools should never be used to turn L.A. or the world into a series of Black+Mirror episodes.

https://statetechmagazine.com/article/2021/07/how-los-angeles-plans-become-smarter-city-2028-olympics People might say that its too expensive to have a series of above and underground water reseevours to fight fires with. Now look at what has happened to the unprepared Greater LA Area.

Pacific Palisades reservoir was offline and empty when firestorm started

 https://www.yahoo.com/news/pacific-palisades-reservoir-offline-empty-163924460.html

Of course no one thought that it would be a good idea to make sure that all possible reservoirs, pools and water tanks are full during a heightened time of fire risk.

Apparently, there was a nothing will go wrong attitude, but if it does, this is what ends up happening.

Also apparently, there was no need to put up temporary safety barriers in N.O. while the permanent ones were being repaired.

New Orleans had top-of-the-line barriers to prevent car attacks — but didn't use them on New Year's Day https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/new-orleans-barriers-prevent-car-attacks-didnt-use-new-years-rcna186012

"Retractable bollards designed to protect New Orleans' French Quarter from vehicle attacks were inactive due to a replacement project at the time of the New Year's Day attack, which saw 15 people killed in an ISIS-inspired motorist rampage." https://www.newsweek.com/new-orleans-vehicle-attack-barriers-replacement-2008442
