If enduring cold weather for half of the year is going to be a problem, then Australia is a much better choice than Canada. Australia is relatively close to several places in the Eastern_Hemisphere.
However, living in Canada means the USA is conveniently right next door, along with the Americas in general. Europe is also much closer to Canada than Asia is.
