However, lots of people want or need to still have their own motorized vehicle.

Some climates are too hot or too cold for someone to be bike riding in. Thus, an enclosed personal transport vehicle is necessary for many people. Even a shared vehicle system would still requirer a good street and highway network.

So many urban highways were pushed through neighborhoods, when they could have gone on better alignments. There wasn't the push several decades ago to encourage more people to use various modes of transportation.
