A decade later in the movie Source+Code, Jake_Gyllenhaal again as the protagonist. His consciousness is eventually fully shifted over into an alternate world (in the local and cosmic simulation) where he survives, fully intact. The portal link into a parallel or alternate world is through a supercomputer, or a quantum computer.
