Secret Service kills man who opened fire at White House security checkpoint

He was already on the radar of law-enforcement. He was obviously enraged about something and wanted to resort to violence.

Was trying to attack the White-House his primary objective, or did he have as specific person in mind?

He had psychological problems and didn't seem to know or care that security and law enforcement were ready for him if he should return to cause more trouble.

He either didn't seem to understand or care that by returning armed with the intent to cause violence, wouldn't go well for him.

Thus, he was likely on a suicide mission.
