The Australia Square Tower

Australia_Square was quite an impressive cylinder of a building when it opened in 1967.

The Australia_Square_Tower was the first building permitted to have 50 floors in Australia.

Now it's just an average tall building in Sydney, even if it was in Melbourne or Brisbane. It wouldn't even be the tallest in Perth, but it would be in Adelaide & especially Hobart.

Australia: the Dreamworld and the Nightmare

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/the-cost-of-living-side-effects-impacting-over-10-million-australians/xxq6wl5sw

Luxurious housing makes the most profit for developers.

https://www.upmove.com.au/post/cost-of-living-in-australia

However, it's a small part of the market, when compared to the amount of people requiring basic comfortable housing needs.

https://www.reckon.com/au/small-business-resources/employee/cost-of-living/?srsltid=AfmBOoqnAta6y9eWs8xEC6WjxpBebOjKu1hqre7ZPHk5ClvnbgQyWf8q

Mixed income level buildings could be part of the solution.

https://en.uhomes.com/blog/cost-of-living-in-australia

A lot of developers like to build big and tall and charge sky-high prices.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/27/world/australia/economy-cost-of-living.html

Perhaps a compromise could make the best of both worlds. The delux housing at the top 3rd or quarter of a tower, with the rest for those seeking a more affordable level of housing. The up side would be more densification vs. urban sprawl. However, the down side would mean that more people would be living in tall buildings with less of a push for more urban sprawl and low rise housing.

City on Fire (1979 film)

City_on_Fire is about an out of control oil refinery conflagration that's not necessarily set in the Greater Houston Area or in L.A. County. It's set in a generic North American metropolis.

While most of LA isn't on fire, some key parts of the county are.

LA and Los_Angeles_County is a much larger area than Greater Houston. Some parts of Los_Angeles_County still have a wilderness feel and some parts still have heavily wooded sections or even forest_areas.

Pacific Palisades reservoir was offline and empty when firestorm started

Apparently, there was a nothing will go wrong attitude, but if it does, this is what ends up happening.

Also apparently, there was no need to put up temporary safety barriers in N.O. while the permanent ones were being repaired.
