Neo and The MATRIX Nightclub Rabbit-hole of Synchronicity

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjoad6gcRzs

So when Neo sees the woman with a White_Rabbit tattoo, he decides to go to the nightclub.

Trinity:...

I was looking for an answer. It’s the question that drives us. It’s the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did.

Neo: What is the Matrix? http://quotegeek.com/quotes-from-movies/the-matrix/1272

Carrie-Anne Moss was a cast member of the short-lived television show Matrix (1993).

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/trivia?item=tr0791439

Gillian Anderson turned down the role of Trinity. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/trivia?item=tr1852400

David Duchovny turned down the role of Neo in order to star in The X Files (1998). https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/trivia?item=tr2169955

"The club was open for nearly four decades as a late-night 4 a.m. bar where goths, punkers, and more gathered to escape the sports bar crowd. The Wachowskis siblings, the filmmakers behind The Matrix, supposedly named Keanu Reeves’ character from that movie after the venue."  https://chicago.eater.com/2017/7/31/16070272/neo-nightclub-documentary-trailer-chicago-2530-last-call

"Neo was the oldest[2] or one of the oldest[3] running nightclubs in Chicago and was a hangout and venue for a variety of musicians and artists, including David Bowie, Iggy Pop, David Byrne, the Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and U2."  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_(nightclub)

At the start of the 1990s, U2 went to record a new BIG tech themed album in Berlin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achtung_Baby#Berlin_sessions A Matrix club opened in Berlin but it was a few years after the recordings at Hansa_Tonstudio.

"Matrix is a club in Berlin which opened in 1996."  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrix_(club)

Of course there was another Matrix club and that one opened a few decades before the first Matrix movie.

"Filming began in March 1998 and wrapped in August 1998..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix#Filming

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix_(club)#Emergence_of_Jefferson_Airplane

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rabbit_(song) This fantastic song was written not that long after the opening of The_Matrix_(club) in the mid 1960s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rabbit_(song)#Lyrics_and_composition , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANNqr-vcx0

Jefferson Airplane’s debut show was on August 13, 1965 at the Matrix nightclub in San Francisco, then went on with several successful tours including performances at the Berkeley Folk Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Monterey Pop Festival, Woodstock, and Altamont.

They recorded hit singles such as “White Rabbit,” “Volunteers,” “Embryonic Journey” and “Somebody to Love” and smash albums such as “Volunteers,” “Surrealistic Pillow,” “Bark” and “Takes Off.” https://jeffersonairplane.com , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aeWicwy7fA , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrLz0w4phXk

"When The Matrix closed, a nearby bar, Pierce Street Annex, leased the space and moved in, remodeling once again, and turned it into a nightclub with only a DJ and no live music. After the Pierce Street Annex closed, then-Mayor Gavin Newsom's company, PlumpJack Group, took over in 2000 and renamed the space The MatrixFillmore. Live music was incorporated into the venue during the first few years; however, this layout was not a viable venue for live music and the program was dropped. The MatrixFillmore was one of the first ultra lounges in San Francisco.[9] In 2017, the club name was changed back to The Matrix, described as a casual neighborhood bar with DJs and dancing on weekends.[1] In 2019, The Matrix was remodeled and renamed the White Rabbit." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix_(club)#End_of_The_Matrix ,

"2019 marks the 20th anniversary of what is arguably one of the best Science fiction movies ever made - The Matrix. It popularized an ancient idea that the world we live in may not be real. In other words, our world is just an illusion, a simulation -- a video game. So, Are we really living in a video game?

Game industry veteran Rizwan (Riz) Virk believes this could be true." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHlfe2HE_gQ

More evidence of the Simulation Theory?

 https://www.reddit.com/r/SimulationTheory/comments/1wtlyw4/proof_of_simulation_theory

At the end of the first MATRIX movie, KR as Neo leaves the phone booth. Right across the street is a wedge shaped building that's similar to the fictional Continental_Hotel in New_York.

"As you approach the Radisson Blu in Sydney, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s the John Wick hotel: The Continental." https://melodydexter.com/more/blog/radisson-blu-sydney-the-john-wick-hotel/

https://www.timeout.com/sydney/hotels/paradox Of course there are several wedged shaped buildings around the world. Its just some fascinating serendipity and synchronicity that such a building was right across the street from the MATRIX Superman phone-booth.

Neo's Message "Ending Scene" | The Matrix (1999) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHW8zC7I5ho This is such a powerful last scene, because it reveals that Neo will be doing more of his Superman thing in the MATRIX. The Simulation Hypothesis (TSH)

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation_hypothesis

The big problem for some people is that it's too unsettling to think that this world might be part of a cosmic construct of data and energy. Of course various religions imply that there is a creator of this cosmic operating system. Even the notion that the universe eventually developed its own form of cosmic consciousness, is too uncomfortable of a concept to seriously ponder. Yet, humans have existed and progressed up to a technological point where some have designed advanced VR simulations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation_hypothesis#In_popular_culture

Trinity:... I was looking for an answer. It's the question that drives us, Neo. It's the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did.

Cyberpunk 2077 Environment Designer Explains How His Team Built the Night City (Simulation)

https://www.ign.com/articles/cyberpunk-2077-environment-designer-explains-how-his-team-built-night-city

Of course a lot of people can hardly wait until there are full Immersion_(virtual_reality) games... Especially with a 1 or 2 hour setting in which the experiencer actually thinks that they are in that particular game world.

https://www.ign.com/articles/cyberpunk-2077-hands-on-preview-what-we-think-after-4-hours-in-night-city

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulacron-3#Plot_summary 1963/1964

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimCity#Gameplay

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_Simulator , https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/nec-build-japans-next-earth-simulator-supercomputer

There are some potential risks, so it still could be a while until such advanced VR systems are available to the public. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immersion_(virtual_reality)#Detrimental_effects

In the early 1990s, the band U2 helped to promote the ZOO+TV entertainment MATRIX.

Harsh_Realm (1999) looked like it could have been quite a wild simulation experience. https://www.wired.com/1999/05/x-files-creator-goes-virtual Sort of like a military version of SimCity. http://tactdb.blogspot.com/2014/04/harsh-realm-combat-virtual-reality-tv.html A VR war game immersion system sure wouldn't be set up for beginners. http://www.scififreaksite.com/harshrealm.html A full immersion VR effect could be achieved with something like a small version of a Cerebro type device. https://them0vieblog.com/2015/10/14/harsh-realm-review Although extreme caution would be advised, some people would still be pushing things to the limit. http://www.the13thfloor.tv/2016/08/31/the-elevator-ritual-a-terrifying-vr-horror-experience There are all sorts of potential problems and liabilities when things start to get too realistic. https://www.vrfocus.com/2017/10/do-you-dare-enter-the-13th-floor-in-fantas-new-vr-experience

The_Thirteenth_Floor and Source_Code movies depict a level of VR tech where ones consciousness can be transferred into another body. Of course this tech would be at a level that's far beyond any digital sandbox_game even, No_Man's_Sky. (NMS) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Man's_Sky#Future

Sandbox_game-History & Life_simulation_games

The technology to transfer consciousness into something like a very advanced version of The_Sims & other Avatars, is still a Sci-Fi concept. In The_Matrix world, ones consciousness is only linked to a VR character. However, it is implied that if a sudden disconnect with The_Matrix occurs, there would be dire consequences.

Of course back in the early days when people were first exposed to the SimCity game, the tech and the graphics were quite limited. Yet, something very interesting was started. All you needed was a personal_computer to experience this new digital or Virtual_World. However, any kind of full immersion or consciousness transfer was just Sci-Fi entertainment.

Virtual_World-Entertainment

There was quite a big jump from the SimCity_(1989_video_game) to The_Matrix movie in 1999. The brilliant creators of The_Matrix_(franchise) wanted to depict a warning about, Out_of_Control A.I. run scenarios, where humans are mentally trapped in a simulated environment with various levels and versions. A small group of people try to break others out of the A.I. run simulation and only one human city remains in the "Real_World."

The_Thirteenth_Floor (1999) provided another fascinating version of  a VR program with people being in something like a very advanced form of SimCity.

Of course something else interesting happened in the late 1990s. No_Maps_for_These_Territories#Background_and_premise

"It features appearances by Jack Womack, Bruce Sterling, Bono, and The Edge..."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Maps_for_These_Territories

So during the 1980s and 90s, Bono and the Edge had obviously become very interested with the writings of William_Gibson_and_the_evolution_of_cyberpunk.

Thus, the unofficial U2 entertainment MATRIX era started. Achtung_Baby,_Zoo_TV,_and_Zooropa_(1990-1993)

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/eb/Bono_as_The_Fly_Cleveland_1992.jpg

Indeed by the early 1990s, Bono was doing his version of Neo in the SimCity MATRIX Thing. By 1992, the Even_Better_Than_the_Real_Thing-Music_video was ready.

In a way, the Zoo_TV_Tour was preparing people for the first Matrix movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH8bnSQ8mR0 , https://www.u2.com/music/lyrics/42

Although it would have been cool for The_Matrix to have been filmed in Melbourne, Sydney was the better choice, overall.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7e/Bono_performing_on_Zoo_TV_Tour_in_Melbourne_Nov_13_1993_3.jpg

"Zoo TV: Live from Sydney is a concert video release by Irish rock band U2. It was filmed on 27 November 1993 at Sydney Football Stadium in Sydney, Australia, during the "Zoomerang" leg of the group's Zoo TV Tour."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoo_TV:_Live_from_Sydney

"All but a few scenes were filmed at Fox Studios in Sydney, and in the city itself, although recognizable landmarks were not included in order to maintain the impression of a generic American city. The filming helped establish New South Wales as a major film production center.[44] Filming began in March 1998 and wrapped in August 1998; principal photography took 118 days."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix#Filming in Australia.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c1/The_Matrix_Poster.jpg

U2 and Neo:
"Neo was the oldest[2] or one of the oldest[3] running nightclubs in Chicago and was a hangout and venue for a variety of musicians and artists, including David Bowie, Iggy Pop, David Byrne, the Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and U2." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_(nightclub)

There is a vast interconnected web of synchronicity with the concept of VR and advanced A.I. simulations in general. Its all part of The Simulation Hypothesis.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuromancer#Background

"Seven years after the events of Neuromancer, strange things begin to happen in the Matrix..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Count_Zero#Plot_introduction (1986)

The MATRIX and The Future of Reality

https://twitter.com/TheMatrixMovie , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgYs_NDyaLs

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix_Resurrections

The hype is certainly gradually building up for this next part of the story. https://nerdist.com/tags/the-matrix

Some people will only ever like the first MATRIX movie.

https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/the-matrix-resurrections-trailer-release-date-and-everything-we-know-about-the-sequel

The 2nd movie in the series certainly expands on the story.

So does the 3rd MATRIX movie, but some might consider it as just some bonus material.

https://www.gamesradar.com/new-the-matrix-4-trailer-is-a-mind-twisting-teaser-that-gives-a-few-more-clues-about-whats-going-on/

The 4th movie might just be considered to be a watered down continuation, but there are still some interesting things in it.

https://ew.com/movies/the-matrix-resurrections-keanu-reeves-carrie-anne-moss-cover-story/?

Like the name implies, Resurrections could be considered to be part reboot, part parallel, and partially a continuation of the overall digital story.

However, right at the end of the first MATRIX movie there seems to be an unintentional reference to the shape of a certain building and how it would become an integral part of the John Wick movies. Call it serendipity or synchronicity.

Christopher Reeve as Superman (1978) and Keanu Reeves as Neo-Tomas Anderson in The Matrix (1999)

https://reactormag.com/the-essential-storytelling-device-that-fuels-superman-and-the-matrix

Similar last names, but very different people, yet they have a connection with the Superman character.

https://www.reddit.com/r/superman/comments/rljnfb/superman_actor_names_george_reeves_and/

At the end of the first MATRIX movie, Neo takes off from a phone booth, it is implied that he is like the Superman of cyberspace, or like a Superman in the MATRIX.

One of the key things about pondering the simulation theory, is a thought experiment to notice some very peculiar synchronicity that does seem to be part of this earthly reality.

https://news.ok.ubc.ca/2025/10/30/ubco-study-debunks-the-idea-that-the-universe-is-a-computer-simulation Some say that its just not possible, so don't bother to look for any clues.

How many people just thought that it's impossible to have a cosmic scale simulation? So, don't give it any serious thought. Really?

Will Smith Rewrites History In New Matrix Inspired Music Video Where He Plays Neo

 https://screenrant.com/the-matrix-will-smith-music-video-beautiful-scars/

https://movies.mxdwn.com/news/will-smith-plays-neo-in-matrix-themed-music-video-decades-after-rejecting-the-original-role/

https://deadline.com/2025/01/will-smith-matrix-instagram-1236249483/

Will Smith would have been great, but The_Matrix was perfect for Keanu_Reeves to star as Neo_in_The_Matrix. And so it was in late March 1999 when people first got to see THE MATRIX.

Will Smith would have been great as (AI) Agent Smith as well, but it wasn't meant to be. Hugo in 1999 was prefect. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/mediaviewer/rm3081751297/?ref_=ttmi_mi_10

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoo_TV:_Live_from_Sydney Just in-time for the late 1990s, THE MATRIX was filmed in Sydney, NSW.

One could say that Bono was doing a version of Neo during the Zoo_TV_Tour in the early 1990s.

The fourth MATRIX movie had such a chance to link several synchronicities together, but it just didn't quite get there.

Who is John Matrix and who is John Wick?

 https://www.reddit.com/r/matrix/comments/1vrk5uc/i_get_goosebumps_every_time/

Sometimes a certain name will become more pertinent in a person's life.

https://www.reddit.com/r/matrix/comments/1vrk5uc/comment/p4fkmt9/

Then later on, that name will even have even more significance.

https://www.mensjournal.com/entertainment/arnold-schwarzeneggers-best-movie-featured-the-ultimate-80s-action-hero

https://www.reddit.com/r/matrix/comments/1vrk5uc/comment/p4ex3yy

Technically, one could say that there is no connection between John Matrix and John Wick.

However, several years before Joel_Silver would meet The_Wachowskis to eventually produce the first and then 2 more MATRIX movies, he just happened to produce the Commando movie with its main character being, Colonel John Matrix. https://hero.fandom.com/wiki/John_Matrix

https://letterboxd.com/producer/joel-silver

https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/llct7i/til_before_joel_silver_produced_some_of

Then, at the end of the first MATRIX movie in Sydney, Keanu Reeves as Neo walks out of a phone booth that's across the street from a building with a peculiar shape.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+Matrix+filming+location

There happens to be a building across the street from the Sydney phone booth that has a similar shape to the NY Continental Hotel in the John Wick movies.

https://melodydexter.com/more/blog/radisson-blu-sydney-the-john-wick-hotel

Is it just another coincidence, or is it synchronicity?

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Paradox+Sydney

Of course when people first saw the MATRIX in 1999, there was no concept of the John Wick character yet, let alone the wedge shaped Continental Hotel.

So as Neo takes off from the phone booth, it is revealed that he is like the Superman of cyberspace, or is part of the Superman MATRIX.

https://13thdimension.com/george-reeves-superman-it-took-decades-but-i-finally-get-what-made-him-great/

One of the key things about pondering a simulation theory, thought experiment is to notice some very peculiar synchronicity that does seem to be part of this earthly reality.

https://news.ok.ubc.ca/2025/10/30/ubco-study-debunks-the-idea-that-the-universe-is-a-computer-simulation Some say that its just not possible, so don't bother to look for any clues.

How many people just thought that it's impossible to have a cosmic scale simulation? So, don't give it any serious thought. Really?

https://www.reddit.com/r/STEW_ScTecEngWorld/comments/1oki1h7/ubco_study_debunks_the_idea_that_the_universe_is At the very least, the simulation hypothesis is a fantastic plot element in several Sci-Fi stories.

Yet, something like a very advanced version of SimCity, the 13th Floor & very advanced flight simulators, can still reveal plenty of clues about this world.

U2: Zooropa and ZOO TV

Zooropa was such a super-tour for U2.

Bono as the Fly, was also like a pre-Neo during the early 1990s.

Achtung_Baby really hit hard in 1991. https://www.u2.com/music/albums/4009

The music video for Even_Better_Than_the_Real_Thing (1992) was so far ahead of its time that it took until the first MATRIX movie to top it.
