The Mission: Impossible masks are almost a reality

As Tom Cruise’s action franchise has evolved, so has the real-life inspiration

Absolutely fascinating!

"Certain team members, as masters of disguise, impersonate the target or someone connected to the target using realistic latex face masks and make-up. A few early season episodes showed the painstaking creation and application of these masks, usually by Rollin Hand. This was later omitted as the audience presumably became familiar with the team's methods. In the 1980s revival, the mask-making process involved a digital camera and computer, and was mostly automatic. In most cases, the guest star would play the role of both the original and the agent-imposter (ostensibly Rollin, Paris, or Casey). Some impersonations are done with the explicit cooperation of the person being impersonated. In some cases, the same actor playing the IMF agent also portrayed the person to be impersonated; this most frequently occurred during Martin Landau's tenure on the series, notably in the pilot, or supplied the voice of the person being impersonated by dubbing. Most episodes included a dramatic "reveal" (also referred to as the "peel-off") near the end of the episode in which the team member would remove the mask." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mission:_Impossible_(1966_TV_series)#Plan

Paul McCartney, Beck - Find My Way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2Q4hAQ4fEw The cool ending of this video shows Beck removing a Paul McCartney mask, just like in the Mission Impossible movies & TV series.

Find your way back to the autumn of 1966. Not only was it the start of the Mission:_Impossible_TV_series (and its masks), but the release of the movie, Seconds. Plus, that's when the Paul_is_dead urban legend gradually began. Someone was able to brilliantly draw upon MI and Seconds to create quite an elaborate urban legend.

"After waking, Arthur is informed by the company's Mr. Ruby that their service costs $30,000. It will fake his death in a hotel fire using an anonymous cadaver, then reshape his appearance and provide a fresh start. When Arthur is unsure, an older man, head of the company, shows Arthur a film of the prior staged assault, ostensibly to make his decision easier.

After considering the emptiness in his life, Arthur reluctantly accepts. He undergoes extensive procedures by Dr. Innes that transform not only his facial features, but his vocal cords, teeth, and even fingerprints.

After a lengthy healing period, the younger looking Arthur is conferred the identity Tony Wilson. Tony is relocated by the Company into a beachside community in California. He attempts to assimilate into his new life, in which he is able to live as an artist —a career he had always aspired to..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seconds_(1966_film)#Plot

Robyn Hood - The Greatest Show On TV (according to some)

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDoS8dT5hlw

Of course TheCriticalDrinker would have to make several striking observations about this Robyn_Hood TV production. RH could have been a great satire on urban social commentary. However, the TV series might leave several viewers baffled and disinterested.

The RH TV series could have been more of a nice modern urban parody on Robin_Hood mythology.

I would watch a 2nd season of RH, but I doubt that the TV series will continue.

Urban Australia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urbanization_in_Australia

It seems that most people want to live in cities or their surrounding urban outskirts.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Australia_by_population#Significant_urban_areas_by_population

Why 95% of Australia is Empty https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnB_8Zm9lPk

Australia is a fantastic vast land with only a small percentage of it that has been urbanized.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Australia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia#Economy

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia#Demographics

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_Australia_by_population

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Australia#Cities_with_the_most_skyscrapers

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melbourne#Urban_structure

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Melbourne#Overall

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Melbourne#Skyscrapers_at_least_200_metres_in_height In comparison, Vancouver, Canada has only allowed one residential tower to reach 200m. No office-tower in Vancouver has ever been permitted to have a 40th floor.

There was a time when Montreal had taller buildings than Melbourne, but that was a long time ago. That's because Melbourne isn't vertically limited like Montreal is. 1000_de_La_Gauchetiere is the only office tower in Montreal that has been permitted to have more than 50 floors. Given the strict height restrictions, Montreal might not permit any building to rival the Rialto_Towers for a while yet.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Montreal#Tallest_under_construction_or_proposed

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Quebec#Tallest_under_construction_or_proposed

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Australia#Tallest_buildings_under_construction_or_proposed

It seems that Australia isn't waiting for Canada to catch up, by the time that Australia has its 3rd building consisting of at least 100 floors, Canada will still have no 100 story buildings.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Canada#Tallest_buildings_in_Canada

The CN_Tower like the Sydney_Tower and the Sky_Tower_(Auckland), aren't office or residential towers.

The Harbour_Centre (stump) in Vancouver is a joke. The office portion of the building wasn't even allowed to have a 30th floor. Even the top of the antenna had to be less than a 3rd of the height of the CN Tower, because of the strict height limitations in Vancouver.

The John_Hancock_Center in late 1960s Chicago, was the first office and residential tower to have a 100 floors, outside of NYC. Australia just might eventually have a couple of buildings taller than the John_Hancock_Center

The Digital Labyrinth (TDL)

TDL is an intersection between news and entertainment, mythology and technology...

Its about referencing books, music, movies and occasionally B$ in general.

Anything from urban_legends to science & fiction, to high-tech urban culture, is referenced.

A lot things are just randomly referenced, but if this world is part of a cosmic creation or a simulation, how much of anything is random?

Occasionally, a placeholder post will be made so that eventually there will be some added pertinent links.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Engine 1726
https://computerhistory.org/blog/gullivers-engine ,
https://www.historyofinformation.com/detail.php?entryid=2334

This blog is a portal into referencing popular_culture and various POVs on Architecture, A.I., Cyberpunk, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine, Music, Quantum+Computers, Urban Issues & other technologies expressed through science & fiction. There is some occasional referenced content with mature themes. Such as some sarcasm and toilet humor...

Of course exploring The+Simulation+Hypothesis is one of the main themes, as well as pondering The+Nature+Of+Reality, in general. There is also an occasional metaphysical angle at TDL.

In late 1966 there was Shore_Leave_(Star_Trek:_The_Original_Series) and then there was WestWorld_(1973 film). Name your adventure scenario...

Unless otherwise indicated, this referencing blog is of a non commercial nature.

Millions of people have written billions of words posted on various websites and blogs. Why try to rewrite or copy what they have already done? Thus, as a referencing blog, readers here are constantly provided with links to many sources from various perspectives. This blog has a lot of movie and TV spoilers

Some posts might remain in draft mode for several weeks or months until a certain amount of info is gathered. While other posts might start out with just one or few links with some more things to be added later on.

A partial index-of-subjects-and-topics , technology for war and peace...

The hypertext is quite an interesting concept & invention & is used extensively here. This multi-branch reference blog provides many links to other websites, especially specific web pages so that readers can find pertinent links. The search_engine keeps evolving & searchenginewatch.com is a good site to get lots of info. The website, cnet.com is one of the best technology sites around.

Wikipedia.org is referenced here quite a lot for general purposes. Whether its the Star_Wars universe or the Star_Trek universe, all referenced links here are intended to direct readers to the various proprietors of websites for a more in depth perspective. Technovelgy.com is one of the best websites showing transitions from sci-fi concepts to technological reality. And cyberpunkreview.com is sublime for its observations & presentations. http://www.cyberpunkreview.com/cyberpunk-movies-by-decade

Characters in books, movies & TV series like The Observer, can motivate some people to think about the concept of time travel or a parallel_universe

The Digital Labyrinth can refer to just about anything throughout space and time.

{An idea is a form (such as a thought) formed by consciousness (including mind) through the process of ideation. Human capability to contemplate ideas is associated with the ability of reasoning, self-reflection, and of the ability to acquire and apply intellect, intuition, inspiration, etc.. Further, ideas give rise to actual concepts, or mind generalizations, which are the basis for any kind of knowledge whether science or philosophy or impulsiveness.}
-
Idea: John_Locke
{In striking contrast to Plato’s use of idea [3] is that of John Locke in his masterpiece An Essay Concerning Human Understanding in the Introduction where he defines idea as "It being that term which, I think, serves best to stand for whatsoever is the object of the understanding when a man thinks, I have used it to express whatever is meant by phantasm, notion, species, or whatever it is which the mind can be employed about in thinking ; and I could not avoid frequently using it." He said he regarded the book necessary to examine our own abilities and see what objects our understandings were, or were not, fitted to deal with. In his philosophy other outstanding figures followed in his footsteps - Hume and Kant in the 18th century, Arthur Schopenhauer in the 19th century, and Bertrand Russell, Ludwig Wittgenstein, and Karl Popper in the 20th century. Locke always believed in good sense - not pushing things to extremes and on taking fully into account the plain facts of the matter. He considered his common sense ideas "good-tempered, moderate, and down-to-earth."} http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/John_Locke, http://abc.go.com/shows/lost/timeline

Technology can be used to reveal codes & clues about reality, but it can also suppress things.
So unless people really want to question reality & study various perspectives, many things remain hidden or lost. http://www.thelostsymbol.com/main.html

"When the soldiers of the future want to communicate, they’ll read each other’s minds."
No matter how advanced technology can get, I'm still amazed that the concept of the crystal ball can be traced back to ancient times. Its not like they got the idea from watching TV. Then again, how did primitive folks even think of a talking flat screen technologies, otherwise known as a magic mirror? Its like they were tapping into a psychic Internet. Of course, how can anyone ever prove that there could be a Cosmic Internet?
Given enough time, humanity could build a galactic size & eventually a Cosmic Internet.

Yet, the crystal ball, the talking mirror along with psychic perception, might very well be indicative that an ancient Cosmic Internet already exists. Indeed, the universe could be running like a vast cosmic program. Jim Elvidge has produced quite a fascinating book, www.theuniversesolved.com and website about the nature of reality.
So many people already believe that the universe is the result of a powerful Force or creator. Science is beginning to recognize the level of organized complexity that is binding various things together on several levels. Eventually quantum computers could run extremely detailed life simulation programs. However, thousands of years before the concept of the supercomputer was the cosmic Akashic_records, reincarnation & The_Wheel_of_Life.html, but according to some we aren't suppose to think of the universe as being like a vast hard drive of space & time. Well even as a Metaphor or Analogy a lot of clues are revealed.

Police investigate videos of men mysteriously emerging from New York City sewers

There’s no threat to the public, and officers have scoured the sewer system to make sure “nothing nefarious had been left behind,” a law enforcement source said. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-investigate-videos-men-mysteriously-emerging-new-york-city-sewe-rcna347914

When some men are seen mysteriously emerging from the sewer, it must be investigated immediately. Sometimes drills are conducted by various agencies, that local law enforcement might not always be aware of. Thus, its important that good interagency communication is maintained.

https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/brooklyn-sewer-manhole-video-urban-explorers/

Whether its some urban explorers, robbers, or someone wanting to plant something dangerous, every manhole cover should have some kind of a sensor tag, or security seal.

https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/manhole-brooklyn-sewer-system-break-in-video/

https://people.com/cause-of-death-revealed-grandma-died-after-falling-into-uncovered-manhole-nyc-11979445 The tragic incident of a woman-who-fell-into-NYC-manhole-and-died-of-scald-burns-and-other-injuries shouldn't have happened.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nyc/comments/1tu29o6/police_investigate_videos_of_men_mysteriously/

Any manhole cover should never be left unattended, not just because a person can fall in, but if someone wants to use it for access to plant a device to cause harm.

Australia: the Dreamworld and the Nightmare

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/the-cost-of-living-side-effects-impacting-over-10-million-australians/xxq6wl5sw

Luxurious housing makes the most profit for developers.

https://www.upmove.com.au/post/cost-of-living-in-australia

However, it's a small part of the market, when compared to the amount of people requiring basic comfortable housing needs.

https://www.reckon.com/au/small-business-resources/employee/cost-of-living/?srsltid=AfmBOoqnAta6y9eWs8xEC6WjxpBebOjKu1hqre7ZPHk5ClvnbgQyWf8q

Mixed income level buildings could be part of the solution.

https://en.uhomes.com/blog/cost-of-living-in-australia

A lot of developers like to build big and tall and charge sky-high prices.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/27/world/australia/economy-cost-of-living.html

Perhaps a compromise could make the best of both worlds. The delux housing at the top 3rd or quarter of a tower, with the rest for those seeking a more affordable level of housing. The up side would be more densification vs. urban sprawl. However, the down side would mean that more people would be living in tall buildings with less of a push for more urban sprawl and low rise housing.

World population reaches 8 billion

https://www.sciencenews.org/article/world-population-8-billion-humans-earth

The ongoing question is, how many more people can the world accommodate? Some countries want to absorb very little of the world's population. In some cases that's because they already have a significant growing population. Immigration_to_Japan has always been heavily controlled, as is the case with immigration_to_Switzerland as well. Both countries have great population density, but also have their low populated mountainous and rural areas. Canada could have the best of both worlds. Great urban density, while retaining plenty of wilderness, parks and farmland.

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canada-new-housing-population-statistics

Even though Canada is the 2nd largest county in area, it still has less than half of 1% of the world's population, as of late 2022. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_and_dependencies_by_area

Robyn Hood Might be the Worst TV Show of 2023

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BlO7xwaCN4

DespotofAntrim really hits hard on the many flaws of this Robyn_Hood TV production. It certainly could have been so much better as a satire and parody on social issues. Some might watch it for laughs, while others just will be bewildered by the urban Robin+Hood storyline.

Bustling Megacities vs. the Lame Planned-opolis...

Top 10 Biggest Cities By 2030 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFJsHK_XbcM

As cities get larger, more modes of transportation and housing, along with parks and recreation facilities needs to be provided.

The Planned-opolis is almost like turning a person into living like a mouse in a maze or a lab rat...

Planned-opolis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSvb_ZTYS6A This is one of the most lame & condescending videos about imposing a totalitarian technocracy, ever produced. Humans beings conditioned to live in a hamster habitat.

https://archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes.com/cwire/2011/01/03/03climatewire-predicting-the-climate-changed-city-of-the-f-70805.html

While its important to maintain law and order, too much urban control could make things seem more like a dystopian nightmare.

The combination of having smartphones and robots granting clearance or permission of limited freedom of mobility for the day, could easily become a totalitarian system.

A planned-oppolis and technocracy system forged through a global reset just might turn things into an ugly world of control and servitude.

Overview of Australian Urban Roads and Tunnels

https://www.transurban.com/roads-and-projects/brisbane#gatewaymotorway The duplication of an already resonably wide bride has made for an impressive 12 lane crossing. One would be hard-pressed to find such a scale of bridge engineering in Canada, especially in BC.

Despite Australia having a smaller population than Canada, Australia has allowed for larger infrastructure, in some respects.

Of course if the cost of gas & EVs, along with the overall cost of living remains high, then more people will be forced to live in the 15-30_minute_city. It can be great in some ways, but many people would still prefer to work or shop in another part of town. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15-minute_city#Societal_effects

Humans in this new AI run world might have to acquire permission to drive on some days. Even just to go to the beach or shop...
