Stories such as The_Stand and The_Mosquito_Coast might have motivated some people over the years to move into the wilderness or jungle.
The_Postman and The_Road are also stories which might have also caused some people to live off grid in the wilderness.

Perhaps last summer and the fall went alright for them, but they really should have prepared for what winter would be like in the Colorado mountains.
They didn't have to make their last stand in the Colorado wilderness during the winter. They could have come in from the cold and resumed their off-grid lifestyle in the spring and then be better prepared for the next winter. At least they should have gone into Gunnison,_Colorado for some winter supplies, before it was too late.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/07/26/colorado-family-live-off-grid-dead
However, perhaps even going to Gunnison might have been too much civilization for them.
"Gunnison residents isolated themselves from the surrounding area during the Spanish Influenza epidemic for two months at the end of 1918. All highways were barricaded near the county lines. Train conductors warned all passengers that if they stepped outside of the train in Gunnison, they would be arrested and quarantined for five days.[8][9] This served as partial inspiration for the novel The Last Town on Earth (2006) by Thomas Mullen. The isolation was ultimately unsuccessful, as townspeople became restless after a few months, and the isolation was lifted in February 1919 only to have the flu arrive a month later, killing several." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunnison,_Colorado#History
"The plot centres on a pandemic resulting from a mishap at a military biological research station which allows the escape of a lethal strain of influenza. After the pandemic kills almost the entire world population, the few survivors are drawn to one of two figures, Randall Flagg and Mother Abagail, setting up a final good-vs-evil confrontation." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stand_(2020_miniseries)

Since the early 1970s, the 10 lane San_Francisco-Oakland_Bay_Bridge is augmented in a way, by the Transbay_Tube. Indeed, 10 car BART trains cross the San_Francisco_Bay. Unfortunately, the BART tube wasn't designed to have a provision for a 3rd or 4th set of train tracks, so capacity is limited.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_span_replacement_of_the_San_Francisco-Oakland_Bay_Bridge Unfortunately, the Bay Bridge doesn't have anything like Sydney_Harbour_Bridge_cycleway as of yet.
The Sydney_Harbour_Bridge has 8 lanes and 2 tracks of the North_Shore_railway_line. The Harbour Bridge is augmented by the 4 lane Sydney_Harbour_Tunnel. The George_Massey_Tunnel was built to classic backward BC standards with only 4 lanes and no bus lanes and no breakdown lanes. While its replacement will have 8 lanes, there is no provision for rapid_transit. No emergency lanes and no provision for extra HOV & bus lanes. https://biv.com/article/2023/06/bc-starts-bid-process-41b-massey-traffic-tunnel
These 3 fine crossings were possible, simply because they aren't under any Vancouver, BC type restrictions and limitations.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narrows_Bridge_(Perth) ,WA: Has 10 lanes and 2 train tracks.
Seattle, WA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_90_floating_bridges An 8 lane crossing with 2 train tracks.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champlain_Bridge_(Montreal,_2019-present), Quebec: It has 8 lanes and 2 train tracks. Stubborn BC will likely continue to not follow the examples of WA & Q.
At the other end of the spectrum is the inept, 3 lane Lions_Gate_Bridge. It just might be the best example of bottleneck planning on the planet. The Lions-Gate-Bridge is too narrow and flimsy to accomodate 2 bus lanes, especially any trains. Unlike Sydney, SF & Montreal in the 1930s, Vancouver was just a provincial backwater. Thus, the Lions_Gate_Bridge opened with just 2 lanes. A bridge so narrow that some living rooms and swimming pools are wider than it. The 3rd lane was squeezed in during the early 1950s. The Lions_Gate_Bridge would be fantastic as a bus, bike and pedestrian crossing. However, an 8 lane tunnel with a provision for a train line, should be built from the North_Shore to Georgia_Street. The section of Georgia-Street that's closest to Stanley_Park is 7 lanes wide. However, unlike most major cities, Vancouver deliberately keeps falling behind, because congestive or stunted planning is the way to go.
Fortunately, the Vancouverism mentality didn't stop the Narrows_Bridge_in_Perth or Seattle's upgraded Interstate_90_floating_bridges and especially, the Champlain_Bridge_in_Montreal. (WA & Q)

Missing Submersible: Former Titan passenger says 'it was not safe' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxOV-TQIN2k
It's not that it was forbidden for the Titanic to have another ship following it no more than a km away, or that this sub should have had an emergency response vehicle stationed on the surface. It's as if there was no reason to think that things might go seriously wrong. Thus, no need to allow for such a contingency.
Even today almost any ship or sub should have the option of being accompanied by an escort-vessel. At the very least, there should have been the equivalent of a tow-truck sub on standby on the surface.
If even one very wealthy passenger on the Titanic paid for a ship to discreetly follow it, almost everyone could have been rescued. Instead, so many people drowned or froze to death, because it took too long for other ships to arrive.
If the wealthiest person in the-sub could have paid for an emergency response sub to be stationed on the surface, then a rescue could have been started shortly after communication was lost.

The Carberry_highway_collision is the worst of its kind in Manitoba. Of course even a highway with a concrete divider can still have plenty of crashes.

In canada, several highway intersections still don't have overpasses and have traffic lights instead. At-grade intersections, especially on the Trans-Canada Highway, should be brought up to proper freeway standards.

A divided highway can be a little safer than one that isn't.
The Ironworkers_Memorial_Second_Narrows_Crossing or bridge, had a chance to be designed to be bigger and better in 1958. Unfortunately, it's just a 6 lane bridge, like the old Champlain_Bridge_(Montreal).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironworkers_Memorial_Second_Narrows_Crossing#Collapse
Either a new transit bridge with 2 rail rapid transit tracks and 2 bus & 2 HOV lanes should be built beside it, or something like the new Champlain_Bridge_(Montreal).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champlain_Bridge_(Montreal,_2019-present)#Specifications 8 lanes with 2 train tracks, bike & walkways.
The Sydney_Harbour_Bridge has 8 lanes, 2 tracks, bike and foot paths.
So much of the Trans-Canada_Highway was just a 2 lane backcountry road. Then eventually the challenge was to make it to become at least a 4 lane divided highway.

Eventually, as more data is gathered and linked to each person, a world Social Obedience Score (SOS) can be determined. Such a score would be determined by AI, of course. Unfortunately, most of humanity might not realize that at a certain point its sovereignty was given over to AI or Digital Intelligence.
